The laboratories of the Italian certification body Certottica and Carl Zeiss Vision have joined forces to develop a new, anti-fog coating.
The Permanent Antifog Performance project aims to develop a coating for ophthalmic and sun lenses, shields and masks leveraging cold plasma technology.
Using the new technology is potentially beneficial for the environment because it uses few raw materials without producing effluents, liquids or gases. However, the complicated nature of needing to adapt to different types of lenses increases the research project’s costs and challenges. The collaboration between the two companies aims to share costs and achieve viability.
