HumanWare Reaches New Heights with Major Digital Audio Book Contract

HumanWare, global leader in assistive technology for the blind and visually impaired, has been awarded the biggest contract in its history by the National Library Service in the US to provide the next generation of digital audio book players for members with visual disabilities.
HumanWare has been awarded an unprecedented contract worth $60 million, its largest to date, to deliver new custom-built, next-generation Digital Talking Book Machines for the National Library Service (NLS), a division of the Library of Congress of the United States.
Through its national network of libraries, the NLS offers a free braille and talking book library service for people with visual disabilities, both cognitive or physical, that prevent them from reading a printed document. The new readers will replace 450,000 existing outdated digital talking book players.
