Tuesday, May 3 2016 | 00 h 00 min | News, Press Release
To mark its 7th edition, Silmo Academy is making some changes to the schedule and content of this eagerly anticipated scientific symposium. Its goal remains unchanged: to bring together high calibre specialists, share ideas and scientific developments in the field of vision and enable opticians to stay abreast of current research and enhance their medical knowledge.
However, this year it gains an extra day in order to attract even more participants and, for the first time, pledges its commitment to support research.
Silmo Academy plans to award a €10,000 grant to a research project in the field of optics and vision science. Open to any individual researcher or research team that submits an application, the winning project will be selected by the Silmo Academy Scientific Committee. Proposals may be submitted until September 6, after which the three best projects will be selected between September 6 and 16. These will be presented orally by applicants between September 20 and 23, with the winning research project announced and presented during the symposium.
The theme of the 2016 symposium will be READING, which will be explored via three sessions:
- Reading and Reading Processes
- Reading Processes in Children and Adults
- Specific Reading Processes in Older People, followed by Reading, a Challenge for Public Health
Finally, as in previous years, an exhibition of posters open to all professionals will be on display at the entrance to the exhibition, a location selected to maximise exposure to visitors. The prize for the best poster will be decided by Silmo Academy attendees who can cast their vote throughout the symposium.
