Without argument Montréal is the centre of Canadian Independent Eyewear, and a fitting venue for the grand finale of the #OptikEyeStyle tour.
Over 50 different “creator” eyewear collections from nearly 25 vendors displayed their wares at the contemporary art gallery, Gallery GORA, located in the heart of the Montreal Place des Arts area on September 5.
The contemporary art on display from Quebec and abroad adorning the walls provided a visual complement to the aesthetics of distinctive designer frames originating from Montreal, France, Italy, United Kingdom and Slovenia.
The event, combining a frame show with networking and education, was attended by practice owners, optical buyers, educators and students and industry VIPs. Participants enjoyed the surroundings and the opportunity to mingle with like-minded eyewear enthusiasts.
#OptikEyeStyle provided the opportunity to “start the conversation” between prospective customers and suppliers.
Optik Magazine Publisher, David Pietrobon shared top-line results of research on the Canadian frame market with the help of “Friend of Independent” supporter from HOYA Canada, Tania Dzenpia. The research reflected how independent eyewear collections have found a place in the Canadian marketplace and what factors are necessary for them grow.
To round out the event, the audience participated in a fun interactive exercise to create a <<word-cloud>> to define the essence of Independent Eye Care Professional.
