At a global meeting attended by regional education leaders on August 21 and 22, the Council was formalized with the objective of identifying, developing and launching forward-thinking ideas which promote continuous education and knowledge sharing among eyecare professionals.
Tackling
poor vision starts with education
The eye care sector has gone through a series of global transformations with
different professions within the industry confronted by the same set of
challenges: Rates of myopia have been increasing exponentially in recent years
and will continue to do so in the decades to come while consumer needs continue
evolving rapidly due to technological disruptions.
With the ongoing transformations in the eye care sector, it is clear that all eye care professionals, along with key opinion leaders, educators and ophthalmic industry leaders have a vital role to play in ensuring that everyone, everywhere, has access to the best vision solutions possible. By developing strong, best-in-class educational programs, this new Global Education and Professional Relations Council will not only contribute to Essilor’s business and become the number one company that provides education and professional development to independent eye care professionals, it will also ultimately continue tackling the growing challenge of poor vision.
Amplifying
knowledge sharing
The Global Education and Professional Relations Council will meet twice a year
and develop global education programs for ECPs with a focus on refraction,
myopia, presbyopia and light management. The Council will also work on a Key
Opinion Leaders program to support the launch of Essilor’s latest innovations
and well as their distributions globally.
