Pro-E 600 Edger Introduced for High Volume ECPs

Essilor introduces the Pro-ETM 600 edger: designed for productivity with a holistic approach to finishing lenses, combining traditional wet edging with the versatility, precision, and speed of milling.

Innovation combined with Essilor Instruments’ experience and the exacting needs of the most demanding labs has resulted in an edger that is 40 to 50% faster than traditional table-tops; that can process the most complex of shapes and mountings, and enable the user to customize all aspects of lens finishing, including engraving and creative shapes.

The Pro E 600 is a suitable edging system for higher volume ECP or integrated retailer, or for a lab seeking a top-end precision and specialty instrument at an affordable cost.

Safilo Launches Digital Museum Galleriasafilo.com

Debuting at MIDO 2017, www.GalleriaSafilo.com is the newest digital museum in the world entirely dedicated to eyewear, its history and technology. A project that highlights the role of Safilo Group as the historical leader and founder of the Italian Eyewear manufacturing tradition, as well as the company that owns one of the most important private collections dedicated to Eyewear in the world, collected over many years in the memory of its historical owner Guglielmo Tabacchi.

GalleriaSafilo.com is a Cloud-based digital project that allows visitors to discover, experience and share the wonder of a museum visit from the preferred device, making the most of social networks with intuitive features and language.

Every guest visiting the GalleriaSafilo.com will have the opportunity to register and create a personal gallery, selecting and downloading the favorite pieces from the 300 unique pieces of Safilo’s permanent collection on display.

Safilo Asserts Position of Leadership for Independents

Safilo will be present at Vision Expo East from March 31st to April 2nd at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City with its direction-setting booth, #2749, located on the main show floor.

Sun-Drenched Urban Look: Rebel Strato

Born in 1997, the Rebel brand has its roots in urban culture. The new collection reaffirms its “Urban streetwear” identity, and accentuates urban codes in a 2017 sun fashion range with excellent optical qualities.

The Strato model has the urban look par excellence, with a front and temples in hand made acetate with luxury finishes. The dual material temple is milled to let the colour show through and highlight the brushed aluminum logo.

Essilor Alive Summit Recap

On Friday, March 3, 2017, Varilux Xperience Partners gathered in Vancouver, British Columbia, for the Alive Summit. Vancouver was the last stop on the Canadian conference tour aimed at bringing industry education to Essilor’s top sellers.

At the conference, Essilor announced a new partnership between Essilor Sun lenses and Puma sunglasses. Martin Lesperance, Director of Training at Essilor Canada, modeled a red velvet pair of Puma sneakers and Puma sunglass frames with Red Velvet Crizal Mirrors Sun UV lenses. A sleek new limited edition Essilor Sunstyle Lenses display was revealed to attendees – only 500 will be available starting this spring.

Over 170 eye care professionals attended a cocktail party and dinner reception on Friday night. Pierre Bertrand, President of Essilor Canada, expressed a desire to create an intimate learning environment so seminars on Saturday and Sunday were attended by a smaller group of 46 Varilux Xperience Partners. Bertrand reminisced that he always enjoyed his education more in a smaller classroom rather than in a huge lecture hall.

Pierre Bourré, the National Executive Sales Director of Essilor, echoed this statement. Bourré’s goal is to keep Alive Summit attendee numbers small to foster community. Bourré feels that attendees are more likely to reach out to their fellow peers for feedback and advice when the Summits are small.

The community theme continued with educational seminars showcasing how it can be beneficial to create a local gathering spot in optical stores, which is a draw for Millennials. On Saturday evening, attendees were invited to give back to the community. Funds were collected and shoes were decorated, everything was then donated to the YMCA Metro Vancouver.

Frames distributor Kering was also present, exhibiting a dazzling display of crystal and fur accented frames. Essilor’s executives and speakers encouraged attendees to keep their businesses fresh by introducing new technology to their offices; such as new products and displays.
