Kering Eyewear Announces First Global Sales Campaign for Gucci Eyewear

Kering Eyewear and Gucci are pleased to announce the start of the first global sales campaign for Gucci Eyewear. This marks the beginning of the new partnership for the product development, manufacturing and distribution of Gucci Eyewear.

Roberto Vedovotto, Kering Eyewear CEO, says: “Fashion and Luxury eyewear is a niche segment in a crowded marketplace. Thanks to our unique portfolio of brands we are now the first company in the industry to be exclusively dedicated to luxury eyewear. Among this portfolio, we are of course extremely proud of our partnership with Gucci, especially given the remarkable momentum that the brand is experiencing at this time.”

In September 2014, as part of a strategic internalization, the Kering Group decided to establish a dedicated company to specialize in fashion and luxury eyewear.

Starting from October 1st, 2016, Kering Eyewear will begin to take orders during a global sales campaign for the January 2017 Gucci collection at events and roadshows in various locations around the world.

A dedicated team of brand ambassadors has been hired to target all markets locally, thereby ensuring a selective distribution strategy that reflects Gucci’s DNA and consequent alignment of the sunglasses and optical frames alongside the house’s other categories.

CooperVision Renews Global Gold Sponsorship of Optometry Giving Sight

SYDNEY — Optometry Giving Sight is pleased to announce that CooperVision, Inc. has renewed its commitment as a Global Gold Sponsor for another three years, effective from January 1, 2017.

Mr. Miller noted that CooperVision’s cumulative support for vision care projects that are helping to eliminate uncorrected refractive error is expected to exceed USD$2 million by the end of 2016. In addition to its charitable donation, the company also contributes funding through a patient rebate donation program in the United States, now in its fifth year with more than 80,000 patients having participated; the One Bright Vision cause-related marketing program in Europe, and its global Fight for Sight employee fundraising campaign with matching support from The Cooper Companies in support of the World Sight Day Challenge.

CooperVision also supports a number of specific programs in partnership with Optometry Giving Sight, providing funding as well as sending experts on site for professional guidance and observation. The aforementioned One Bright Vision initiative will screen 30,000 children ages 7-12 in the Chennai region of India during 2016, following a similar effort that screened 100,000 children in Tanzania from 2013 to 2015. Another initiative funded in part by CooperVision is helping introduce optometry as a course of study in Vietnam.

Voluntary Recall of PeroxiClear Cleaning Solution in the US and Canada

Bausch + Lomb is conducting a voluntary recall, proposed Class II, of PeroxiClear 3% Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaning & Disinfecting solution in the United States and Canada. PeroxiClear is a specialty contact lens solution with a special lens case and neutralizing disc. PeroxiClear is indicated for soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

Although this voluntary recall represents low risk to the consumer and is unlikely to cause serious health consequences, the company is voluntarily recalling the product from retailers, wholesalers, and eye care professionals out of an abundance of caution. It is unlikely that Bausch + Lomb will be able to return the product to the marketplace within 12 months.

The company chose to initiate this voluntary action based on internal testing that simulated normal product use. Testing showed occasional occurrences where the residual peroxide remaining in the lens case after neutralization was out of product specification.

PeroxiClear solution is unlikely to cause serious health consequences. If the residual hydrogen peroxide is above product specification the user of the product could experience temporary symptoms of burning/stinging, irritation, red eye and in rare circumstances other more serious health consequences.

This voluntary recall is limited to PeroxiClear only. No other Bausch + Lomb products are affected by this voluntary recall.

Safilo Acquires LENTI (BERGAMO – Italy)

Padua – Safilo Group announces the acquisition of a further 24.4% interest in Lenti S.r.l., a manufacturer of sun lenses based in Bergamo, already 75.6% owned. As a result, Safilo has expanded its ownership to 100% of the company.

Lenti was founded in 1995 through the collaboration of several optical production specialists, led by Mr. Marco Negri and Safilo. Today, Lenti designs, develops and manufactures lenses end-to-end, counting on the most advanced Research & Development and Manufacturing capabilities that are leading the Eyewear industry and Fashion tendencies with unique graphic design lenses.
