Harley-Davidson® Eyewear’s Classic Designs for Men

Marcolin USA introduces two new men’s ophthalmic styles to the Harley-Davidson® Eyewear Fall/Winter 2015 collection. The clean and classic designs are infused with high-quality materials and interesting temple. With concepts inspired by the brand’s esteemed motorcycles, the collection retains its unique look, while never leaving its core values.HD_0731

Style HD0731 features a semi-rimless front crafted in metal. This streamlined silhouette merges with handmade acetate temples that have a slight flair. Clean subtle metal detailing highlights each temple, showcasing the brand’s iconic logo.HD_0732

The HD0732 is a full rim frame further enhanced by its textured metal temple detailing. This metal treatment is inspired by the hardware found in the brand’s iconic motorcycles reinterpreted into the frame’s design. A laser-engraved block logo is inscribed on the frame’s acetate temples completed by a Bar and Shield logo on each tip.

Select New Look Eyewear Stores Win Meet-and-Greet with Laurence Leboeuf

PINELLAS PARK, Fla.– This November, the staff at two Lunetterie New Look Eyewear locations – Saint-Georges-de-Beauce and Montmagny – enjoyed an evening with Canadian actress and Transitions Optical partner, Laurence Leboeuf, after earning the most points in a nine-month long promotion centered around Transitions® lenses. Transitions Optical, Inc. and Lunetterie New Look Eyewear hosted a celebratory event in Quebec City to honour the staff, thank them for their hard work to increase their Transitions lens sales and give them a chance to meet Leboeuf and have their photos taken.

“It was really exciting to see so many of our employees engaged in this program,” said Marie-Josée Mercier, vice president of sales and operations, Lunetterie New Look Eyewear. “This contest was a great way to motivate our staff to familiarize themselves with the new colour options available in a Transitions lens and to help more eyeglass wearers see that Transitions lenses can fit their style preferences and lifestyle.”

An advocate of the importance of visual health since a very young age, Laurence Leboeuf joined Transitions Optical’s Canadian campaign in 2015 to launch Transitions® Signature graphite green lenses. For more information, visit Transitions.com.

Optometry Giving Sight is Helping Establish the First School of Optometry in Oaxaca Mexico

Optometry Giving Sight hosted the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Benito Juarez Autonomous University of Oaxaca (UABJO), the Government of Oaxaca, Brien Holden Vision Institute and World Council of Optometry at the World Congress in Medellin Colombia, to establish the first school of Optometry in the state of Oaxaca in Mexico.

“Despite the existence of 14 optometry schools in Mexico at a university level, none of these are located in the south or southeastern parts of the country,” said Dr. Juan Carlos Aragon, Chairman of Optometry Giving Sight. “With a combined population of 20 million people, the provision of optometric services is very weak, resulting in a disproportionate percentage of the population being functionally blind or vision impaired due to uncorrected refractive errors.”

The goal of the collaboration is to develop a program that will locally produce degree trained optometrists. The School hopes to recruit 50 students per annum commencing in 2016, in what will be a 4-year degree.

“We are excited to be entering into this collaboration, which has the full support of the University and the Government,” said Lic. Eduardo Martínez Helmes, Rector of UABJO. “We are grateful for the support we have received from the Brien Holden Vision Institute in relation to the development of the curriculum, and look forward to working with Optometry Giving Sight to mobilize resources to develop the infrastructure for the School.”

Optometry Giving Sight is a registered Civil Association in Mexico and its National Committee is comprised of representatives from industry and the profession including Carl Zeiss Vision, CooperVision, Bausch + Lomb, Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Marchon, Essilor, Alcon, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Imagen Optica, AMFECCO and Grupo Devlyn.
