Increased sales and profits at Hoya

Hoya posted an 18.6% increase in its profits for the second quarter of 2014, compared with the same period in 2013.

The Japanese company reported CA$1.2 million in sales (121,242 million yen) in this quarter. Its after-tax profit was almost CA$275,000 (27,323 million yen).

In the Life Care segment, which includes ophthalmic, contact and intraocular lenses, sales increased by 20.5%, compared with the same period last year, to CA$759,000 (75,493 million yen). This growth was driven by a significant increase in sales in overseas markets and through the inclusion of Seiko Optical Products.

New Look Eyewear Inc. announces its results for the third quarter of 2014

New Look has reported revenues of $32.5 million for the third quarter that ended September 27, 2014.

This represents an increase of 54% compared with the same period last year. These results are mainly attributable to the addition of 65 Vogue Optical stores in December 2013.

Sales from stores opened by New Look and Vogue Optical before 2013 increased by 3.7% over last year.  The net earnings attributed to shareholders of $1.65 million for the quarter increased by 48.5% over last year, including a provision of $0.81 million for expenses related to the acquisition of companies as well as to the acquisition of Greiche & Scaff, announced last August.

Marchon Canada moves its head office

Marchon’s executives have officially announced the relocation of its Canadian head office to new facilities.

The company has moved in larger premises equipped with the latest advanced technology known to this day in Montreal.

The 30,500 square feet new structure will allow Marchon Canada to better serve the market and offer its employees an open concept environment conducive to team building and innovation.

Marchon will focus on increasing its operational capacities.

Infoptix.ca website updated

Infoptix has been updated. A calibration tool has been added, available only with the lens thickness calculation, the evaluated lens now displayed in real size. The over refraction tool is also modified, as well as the ISO Standards, which should benefit Quebec opticians who will attend the next continued education session. Marcolin to double its “Made in Italy” production

Marcolin has acquired a new 3,500 m2 manufacturing facility in Longarone, Italy, which will allow it to double its production capacity in the country.

The acquisition strengthens Marcolin’s commitment to the production of high-end products. The company recently signed license agreements with Ermenegildo Zegna, Zegna Couture and Emilio Pucci, all of which have a policy of developing and manufacturing their products in Italy. Marcolin also holds licenses for other brands that support Italian know-how, such as Tom Ford, Montblanc, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Dsquared2 and Diesel.

The new facility plans to begin operations in mid-2015.
