Unique to this FYidoctors location is a fully customizable digital storefront display wall facing street traffic. New interactive digital media is utilized throughout the clinic space to educate and engage our patients. Additionally, a unique “FYidoctors scent” is used throughout the clinic to stimulate the olfactory senses of patients while browsing.

The clinic’s waiting area is designed to be more relaxed and comfortable, creating an opportunity for our patients to enjoy their time at the clinic. With top-of-the-line materials, the overall clinic purchasing experience is improved with exceptional acoustics, lighting, digital touch points, and interactive messaging.

“This clinic, its design, and the technology it offers is what we have as a vision for our entire network across Canada at FYidoctors. It exemplifies what FYidoctors has become as a leader in patient care in Canada and we are very proud to provide such a wide range of services and products to our patients,” says Dr. Alan Ulsifer, CEO & Chair of FYihealth group.

“Since moving our corporate Home Office to Mission in 2015, it has been our vision to create a flagship location at street level to effectively showcase our brand.  I am so excited to see this dream come to life and for our team to be able to enhance the lives of the local community through the eye care and services we provide,” added Darcy Verhun, President of FYihealth group.

The four optometrists based out of Mission Square bring over 112 years of optometry education and knowledge. With a goal to offer the best optometric experience and to have answers to all the patients’ questions answered, Mission Square’s Lead Optometrist, Dr. Bunny Virk, shares “the clinic is fully equipped with the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for early detection and management of all forms of acute and chronic eye conditions. In addition, our clinic will have the WAM800, an advanced diagnostic device in the optometric industry.”

Additional technology including the IPL/Radio Frequency Darwin treatment device, corneal topography, meibography, retinal widefield imaging, and the latest lens technology (duo-form lenses exclusive to FYidoctors with precise measurements (opitkam)), will all be available at this flagship location.

FYidoctors have built this space to be welcome to patients from all demographics, which can be seen through the customized wheelchair accessible room and friendly staff. To continue the progression of the services offered, the new FYidoctors University space will be opening soon, less than ten steps away and right across the hall, to help support the current and future team members with training and education of new Optometrists.

opti 2023: The Ophthalmic Spectrum – Complete and Compact

In just under two months, we will see opti, the international trade show for optics & design, return to its traditional pole position at the start of the year. From January 13 to 15, 2023, the ophthalmic family will meet at the Munich Exhibition Centre to find out about new products and trends in the industry and place orders spanning the entire range of ophthalmic goods.

The space set aside for the opti CAFÉ powered by ZVA in Hall C3 will provide plenty of room and opportunity for exchanging ideas and listening to talks by experts. Also, for the first time, trade visitors will have the chance to seek advice on their social media presence in short 20-minute slots.

The social media consultations will be held in German, English and French every day of the trade fair. The experts are Sarah Schleicher, German optician and eyewear blogger with just under 19,000 followers on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/sarah_schleicher_/) and Anne-Sophie Lapetite of AnSoStyle (https://www.instagram.com/ansostyle/), who is from Antibes, is also an optician and an international Instagram star with 100,000 followers.

Newcomers and strong brands

Myopia management is the key focus of opti 2023, as it was at the special May event. Sustainability in optics is also a key issue, once again reinforced by the start-ups in the opti BOXES.

The opti FORUM XT webinar series will fill the time until the live event. Next event: November 17, 2022, at 7:30 pm on the subject of “Myopia – what is all the hype about?”

Alcon Launches Systane iLux2 MGD Thermal Pulsation System

Alcon today announced the Canadian launch of its latest innovation to treat patients with dry eye: the Systane® iLux Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) Thermal Pulsation System.

The Systane iLux2 treatment system is the only all-in-one, portable MGD device that can help Eye Care Professionals (ECPs) both evaluate their MGD patients and then effectively treat them through customizable control of heat and expression of their meibomian glands. To help educate patients on the benefits of this treatment, the Systane iLux2 now has advanced imaging capabilities used for meibography, enabling ECPs to capture white light and infrared photos of the meibomian glands, as well as high-definition (HD) video and images of the treatment process.

“Around 56% of patients see four or more eye care providers in search of proper diagnosis and relief,” said Dr. Walter Whitley, Optometrist at Virginia Eye Consultants. “With the new Systane iLux2 MGD Thermal Pulsation System, I can efficiently evaluate my MGD patients and educate them on their need for Systane iLux2.”

The new imagining capabilities’ of Systane iLux2 MGD Thermal Pulsation System helps the device expand on its already efficacious treatment capabilities, giving patients 12 months efficacy with a single 8-to-12-minute treatment. In a post-hoc review of a recent study on 236 patients, 87% of patients with severe baseline MGD symptoms reported having only mild-to-moderate symptoms at 12 months post-treatment. Moreover, 78% of patients with moderate baseline symptoms had no-to-mild symptoms at 12 months post-treatment.

“Alcon is committed to continually innovating our dry eye portfolio with industry-leading product offerings, so that ECPs are able to respond to their patient’s needs,” said Chris Gruhn, General Manager of Alcon Canada. “By allowing patients to visualize the disease, and track their results over time, the all-in-one updated SystaneiLux2 MGD Thermal Pulsation System will assist eye care professionals in further building trust with their patients.”
